CO2 emissions rise across Europe because of swing to petrol

Average CO2 emissions from new cars were 118.5g/km in 2017, up 0.4% compared to 2016 and the first rise since records began in 2010, according to new data published by the European Environment Agency (EEA).

Further action needed on EU road deaths, says European Commission

Fewer people died on European roads last year, according to new road fatality figures from the European Commission but further action is needed to bring accident rates down further, says the EC. 

Belgium introduces first European mobility framework

Belgium has become the first country in Europe to introduce a legal framework for mobility budgets under which company cars can be replaced by a greener, broader range of mobility alternatives. The country has around 450,000 company cars and the Belgian government hopes the mobility budget, which came into effect on March 1, will eventually reduce that number by about a quarter.

EV sales rise by 85% across Europe, says JATO Dynamics

Electric vehicle (EV) sales rose by 85% across Europe in March, according to new analysis by data providers, JATO Dynamics, which looked at 27 new car markets and found EV sales passed 100,000 for the first time.

New vehicle safety standards approved by European Parliament

The European Parliament has given the green light to new minimum vehicle safety requirements that will come become mandatory on new cars and other vehicles across the European Union from 2022.
